From one workshop to a journey across Europe
Story of Lights was not born in an office. It was born in a Czech workshop where steel is bent, structures are welded and thousands of lights are fitted by hand — and where, one day, we decided that light should do more than decorate. It should tell stories.
Light as a craft
Behind Story of Lights stands DECOLED — a Czech company that designs, manufactures and installs festive lighting for towns and squares across Europe. Years of watching light transform public spaces led us to a simple question: what if lights were not just a backdrop to the festive season, but a whole evening world you could step into?
That is how the light parks were born — evening walks where welded light sculptures, 3D-printed details and kilometres of LED points tell the story of the place they stand in. Every park is an original, and every centrepiece is made in our workshops.
How the story was written
More than 25 years ago — light for cities
The family company DECOLED is founded. Ever since, it has been bringing light to the streets of towns, villages and shopping centres across Europe — its workshops producing welded light structures and the Easy Fix & Eco Fix systems, the craft foundation on which entire parks would later grow.
2021 — light for the public
We stage our first themed light exhibitions for the public. Light stops being mere decoration — it becomes an experience worth buying a ticket for.
2022 — the first light park
We open our first light park in Prague. Exhibitions in other cities follow — the Krkonoše Mountains, Ostrava, Brno — with themes such as Space and the Castle of Lights, visited by hundreds of thousands of people.
2025 — over 30 exhibitions across Europe
We light up more than 30 light exhibitions all over Europe. In season 25/26, a park shines at the chateau in Pardubice — the Wondrous World of Inventions.
Season 26/27 — Journeys Across Europe
The golden compass points to twelve parks in five countries — Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Germany. Each city tells its own chapter of Europe's story in light.
And beyond — light without borders
Every season will bring new cities, new stories and new sculptures. The archive of past seasons on the park pages will keep growing — and with it the map that the golden compass has yet to draw.
From a single Czech workshop
Every park centrepiece is an original. Each one is made in the DECOLED workshops in Czechia — from the first sketch through the welded structure to thousands of hand-fitted lights.
Welded light sculptures
We weld steel structures to measure — sculptures over ten metres tall, built to withstand wind, snow and thousands of visitors.
3D printing and detail
Faces, ornaments and fine details are created with 3D printing and hand modelling — so the light can trace even the most delicate line.
Handmade and hand-assembled
We fit kilometres of light tubing and thousands of LED points by hand. Every park is staged like a theatre set — with a story from the entrance to the finale.
Light that returns
After the season we dismantle the sculptures, refurbish them in the workshop, and next winter they tell a new story somewhere else in Europe. Nothing ends up in landfill.
